Quivira Los Cabos
By Karin Leperi
There’s a secluded place of exquisite beauty, that is located on the southernmost tip of Baja, at the intersection of the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez. Noted for casual elegance, architectural flair, and outdoor lifestyle, it’s called home by those looking for their own personal piece of paradise. It lies amidst one of the most scenic golf courses in Mexico.
This exclusive 1,850-acre master-planned community – Quivira Los Cabos – represents coastal living at its best. Anchored by Quivira Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, which is often referred to as the “Pebble Beach of Mexico,” and complemented by an exclusive oceanfront clubhouse, residents and guests can experience their own version of personalized paradise.
Renowned resort developer Ernesto Coppel founded Quivira with the vision that it be a place where family and friends enjoy a paradise of elegance, serenity and service. It is now possible to buy residences and a piece of that paradise at Copala, Coronado, and The Private Residences at Montecristo. It’s where luxury and inspiration come together.
As an incentive, the developer is offering a 10-year direct financing at very competitive rates. An array of flexible down payment options is available.
“The location of Quivira Los Cabos is outstanding. In a destination well-known for its mountain-desert-ocean environment, Quivira sits at the southernmost point, the tip, of the Baja peninsula, where the Sea of Cortes meets the Pacific Ocean,” said Jose Luis Mogollon, Project Director for Quivira Los Cabos. “Although secluded, the Quivira development is only a ten-minute drive from downtown Cabo San Lucas. For extraordinary ocean views at true Land’s End, no other resort community in Cabo has what Quivira offers.”
Copala Ocean-view living with defined elegance
Copala is a full-ownership home and condominium community set amidst the foothills and desert bluffs of Quivira. The master-planned gated community features 1 – 3 bedrooms in hacienda-style condos as well as custom homes with 3 – 4 bedrooms. All boast ocean-views and reflect the region’s classic and contemporary architectural styles, with ample use of red tile roofs, wrought-iron accents and cantera stone.
The condominiums at Copala comprise a total of seven six-floor towers containing 36 condominium units per building. First-floor units feature gardens fronting the terrace while penthouse condos offer a rooftop terrace with a splash pool, fire pit, outdoor grill and other amenity upgrades. The first units were landscaped and delivered in 2015, with more than 70% of the units sold by the end of 2016.
Residential custom homes are also available at Copala, ranging in size from 1,800 to 2,400 square feet in multiple layouts and with six different floor plans. Practical design features include garages, storage space and modern kitchens with living areas designed for maximum adaptability to reflect lifestyle preferences. Rolled out in three phases, the 86 private homes are terraced below the condominiums with ocean and golf views.
Condominiums range in price from $350,000 to $800,000 and homes are priced from $450,000 to $1 million dollars.
Quivira’s newest residential community Coronado, the newest and most exclusive residential community within Quivira, is a community of 68 single-level hacienda-style homes. Perched along the 17th fairway, the 4 and 5 bedroom homes have commanding ocean views as well as of nearby Quivira Golf Club.
With five different model options ranging in size from 4,100 to 5,000 square feet, and two different lot sizes, it’s easy to find the right piece of paradise to meet your lifestyle and needs. Features include interior courtyards, indoor/outdoor patios, marble floors, granite countertops, Viking appliances, cedar woodwork and handcrafted forged ironworks.
Construction is underway and the first phase is expected to be completed in 2017-18. Prices range from $1.5 to $2.5 million.
The Private Residences at Montecristo
An exclusive gated community within Quivira, The Private Residences at Montecristo consist of 18 luxurious Tuscan-style homes with 3 or 4 bedrooms. Built on the side of a coastal bluff with resplendent ocean views and overlooking Quivira, the private residences let you enjoy the privacy and pleasures of this special enclave. Luxurious features include a private infinity pool, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi, large terraces, a central family room, reading areas and walk-in closets.
The Quivira Lifestyle The Q Life
As part of the Quivira Los Cabos experience, owners can enjoy many of the world-class services offered by the community’s four resort hotels. Amenities range from the award-winning Armonia Spa to state-of-the-art gyms and superb dining options, including Peninsula, a new gourmet restaurant at The Towers of Pacifica that features regional Baja cuisine. The trendy Peninsula Lounge Bar serves hand-crafted artisanal cocktails and an array of appetizers and small plates.
More culinary choices? The Market at Quivira, a gastronomic emporium inspired by food halls such as Harrods in London and the Plaza Hotel in New York, features an enticing array of eateries (from brick oven pizzas to eclectic Asian fare), a lively central bar, and open communal seating.
Quivira residents also have exclusive access to what is now one of the most-sought after golf experiences in North America: Quivira Golf Club. Quivira Golf Club offers the most oceanfront golf of any facility in Los Cabos, with stunning sea views from all 18 holes. This is the course that has redefined the Cabo golf experience, resulting in a course so breathtakingly scenic that Golf Magazine named it Best New International Course in 2014.
“Quivira has more uniquely memorable holes than just about any course on the planet,” says Tim Gavrich, Managing Editor for GolfVacationInsider.com. “Jack Nicklaus and his design team took some big risks, and their boldness paid off big-time at holes like the 12th and 13th. The oft-photographed fifth hole is rightfully controversial, but the course’s overseers continue to refine it so that it’s playable by all visitors.”
The beautiful Copala Clubhouse was unveiled in 2016. A short walk from the Copala towers, the clubhouse is an ideal gathering place for owners, their families and friends. The airy, multi-level clubhouse, featuring panoramic ocean views, offers an infinity-edge pool, a children’s pool with splash fountains, gym and spa facilities, a movie theater, a deli / market, a fire pit with flexible seating, a casual indoor / outdoor restaurant with sports bar, and dedicated indoor / outdoor play areas for children. It even has fully furnished offices and a conference room for residents who might need to work while on vacation. A clubhouse concierge is on hand to take care of all member requests.
“We’re striving for a ‘best of the best’ type experience in a spectacular environment,” said Mogollon. “From the start, our goal has been to create a residential development where the core attributes are family, beauty, quality and memorability. We believe the clubhouse fits in perfectly with the residences we’ve created.”
By the end of this year ground will be broken for the spectacular new Quivira Beach Club, another exclusive amenity for Quivira Los Cabos residents.
There’s more. ‘The Q Life’ at Quivira Los Cabos defines a lifestyle that goes beyond the ownership of a well-appointed residence at Quivira.
“The Q Life concept is a lifestyle club that offers programs to Quivira owners, for meaningful interaction and education – from wine tasting to organic gardening, painting classes to golf clinics,” Mogollon explained. “We are emphasizing the fullness and enjoyment of life in this beautiful place that people are choosing to call home, with the goal of making lifelong memories.”
Quivira is easy to get to as it is serviced by two airports. For those flying commercially, the San José del Cabo International Airport (airport code SJD) is located approximately 25 miles from Quivira in the town of San José del Cabo.
For private planes, the Cabo San Lucas International Airport (airport code CSL) is the area’s new destination for general aviation, private jets, and charters, now making it easier than ever to fly direct to Cabo from the U.S. The airport includes a new executive jet terminal and is located approximately six miles north of Quivira.
